Here's what we'll be getting up to!

Tuesday 28th May
All about me!

During the first day of the May Half Term, we'll be exploring our uniqueness!

In the morning session, we'll be creating art inspired by positive words and affirmations!  We'll participate in a fun mono-printing workshop, creating artwork inspired by artists who use text in their work.  This will be a little challenging too as we'll have to learn to write backwards!

Just before lunch, we'll be creating self-portraits! We'll use mirrors to capture ourselves and then we'll paint our buddies.

In the afternoon we'll be exploring and designing manifestos; these are inspiring statements highlighting our individual preferences, hobbies, and interests...a celebration of our uniqueness and diversity.  We'll then go on to create crazy collage-inspired moodboards, all about us!

Wednesday 29th May
Our World

On this day, will be exploring individual worlds and what makes our worlds and lives special and unique to us.  We'll be looking at our world, country, town, neighbourhood, home and school.

In the morning we'll be designing our own 3D homes!  The children will design imaginative homes using collage and textiles as inspiration, encouraging creativity and resourcefulness.

We'll also be exploring the lives of our neighbours and familiar faces we encounter every day. In this activity, we'll introduce some of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world and design our own neighbourhoods in pastels.  We'll then paint a mural, creating a group neighbourhood!

In the afternoon we'll be getting more performative and we will be creating small group performances based on people in our worlds!  We'll be performing our drama pieces to the group at the end of the day

Thursday 30th May
A day of Music and Dance!

On this day we'll be exploring our rhythm and movement!

We'll be taking part in a creative day of Music and Dance. From high-energy hip-hop beats to graceful ballet movements, there's something for everyone. The day will be all about teamwork, boosting confidence, and igniting imaginations, ensuring a day packed with fun and enrichment!

The end of the day will culminate in several mini group shows for everyone to enjoy!

Friday 31st May
Exploring Fashion and Textiles

On the final day of May Half Term we'll be exploring all things fashion and textiles.

In the morning we'll be looking at fashion over the last 100 years!  The children will then think about the future and what sort of outfits they might want to wear, designing their own futuristic garment.  They'll then go on to explore wool and yarn, creating their own pom poms to adorn their bags or keys.

In the afternoon the children will learn all about the Met Gala and 2024's theme of ' The Garden of Time'.  Children will have the opportunity to collage their own garments inspired by this theme.

In the afternoon the children will be getting hands-on, designing and hand printing their own tote bags and t-shirts!  A fashion show will follow to show the group their amazing designs!
