The Dart Centre is Hedge End's Local community Arts Centre, offering a vibrant arts programme for all ages and abilities.  The centre facilities/spaces to hire for dance, fitness and performance groups. We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic Art Tutor to join our team.

Casual rate of £25 per hour.

The role is to cover our Watercolour Art courses, which we run on an on-going basis (with breaks throughout the year including Christmas, Easter and Summer). You will be responsible for teaching our wonderful adult community how to create beautiful artwork using various tools and techniques in Watercolour Painting.

Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging with our adult community, building rapport and creating and enriching, friendly, sociable and welcoming environment.
  • Teaching students how to use different tools and techniques to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Providing demonstrations and step by step instructions as needed
  • Offering one-to-one support and answer questions during the session
  • Being a positive ambassador of The Dart Community Arts Centre

About you:

  • You have experience in developing and leading creative community classes and will have worked in similar roles before
  • You have experience in tutoring art to groups of 12-18 people and be adept at supporting individuals 1-1
  • You are capable of producing strong artwork yourself, in pencil and watercolour paint (as a minimum)
  • You feel comfortable demonstrating your skills to a group
  • You are friendly and approachable and have excellent communication skills
  • You are keen to build strong relationships with the attendees and inspire them to feel confident and positive about their work
  • You can think on your feet and respond promptly to the demands of the attendees.
