Each choir will be allocated a 15 minute performance slot to include time for getting onto stage, introductions and applause. - see below for more details.

This is a non-competitive festival, providing local choirs the opportunity to perform and meet other choirs.

Date:  Saturday 30th May 2020 from  9.30 am – 5.00 pm.

Venue:  Cedar Room (Main Hall) at the King’s Community Church

Upper Northam Road, Hedge End, Southampton, SO30 4BZ

The venue is situated very close to junction 7 of the M27 as you head towards Hedge End village.

There is ample parking for 300+ cars. You can also use Turnpike Way which is opposite the golf course (next door).

Parking is available for a few coaches, but please let us know if you intend to use a coach.

The Cedar room seats about 300, plus a gallery area seating 99.

Visitors are most welcome and choirs are encouraged to bring friends and supporters.

As choirs will be sitting in the audience until their performance slot the gallery will be used solely for visitors.

The performance platform will take a maximum of 72 persons.

For any performers in wheelchairs there is currently no access onto the stage itself, but those with mobility issues can be seen if the choir forms with a row on the floor and will be able to be seen clearly by the audience.

The stage area  is semi-hexagonal in shape and will accommodate 6 rows in the following pattern:-

Back row        11

Front row       9

An electric piano will be provided and basic PA for the playing of backing tracks only.

There are 4 performance sessions in which 4/6 choirs can perform:-

Session 1; 9.30 am – 11.00 am

Session 2; 11.30 am – 1.00 pm

Session 3; 1.30 pm – 2.30 pm

Session 4; 3.00 pm – 5.00 pm.

From 8.50 am the Olive room on the first floor will be available.

A rehearsal timetable table will be issued sometime in May once all details have been submitted by choirs.

The final programme will be published when all the details from the participating choirs is in and agreed.

There will be a programme available on the day, free to all singers.

A minimal charge for a programme will be made for audience.

Choirs need to submit their final programme by Friday April 3rd  so that they can be collated and printed.

PLEASE note that a choir’s set is limited to 15 minutes max and MUST take into account getting to the platform, MD’s introductions and comments, and applause.

It is vital that choirs stick to this timing so as not too over-run the sessions and to be fair to other choirs who keep within their time.

The cost for each choir is £3 per singer. (MD’s and accompanists are not charged).

This fee will cover the hire of the hall, insurance and performing rights license. The fee is due by April 3rd.

Refreshments (tea/coffee/biscuits), hot and cold snacks will be available throughout the event in the KCC's well stocked Junction Cafe.

Other places to eat are close by:- The opposite side of junction 7 has a large M&S, Sainsbury’s, McDonalds & Burger King. If you carry on down Upper Northam Road you reach Hedge End village there is Domino’s Pizza, a Subway (in Budgens), a chippy and The Barleycorn Pub.
